An 8-Week Online Foundational Course for Film, TV, Theatre & Comics This tried-and-true course has been taught for over five years and has helped launch the careers of writers and directors, leading to the production of several award-winning short films and plays. Storytelling Basics teaches foundational dramatic structure, character development, dialogue techniques, formatting, and narrative flow—skills essential for crafting compelling scripts across film, television, theater, and comic books. This course meets once a week for two hours from 6 PM EST to 8 PM EST, Tuesday, February 3rd to Tuesday, March 24th, 2026 Premiere-level enrollment is capped at just ten students per session. These participants will receive: Full instructor feedback on all assignments Weekly group workshopping Full Q&A access A certificate of completion (upon submission of all required coursework) Coursework includes: Two 5-minute micro-short scripts One 10-minute film or play script, or a 10-page comic script Participants will gain proficiency in: The Three-Act Structure Storytelling language and terminology Character creation and development Crafting story and character arcs Basic pitching and outlining Drafting and rewriting techniques Giving and receiving feedback Real-world industry insights Most importantly, students will build confidence in their unique writer’s voice, learn how to develop a personal creative process, and gain the tools to bring their ideas to life.
